Duri "Alla casa" sino a che la formica non abbia bevuto tutto il mare e la lumaca fatto il giro del mondo.
In the historic Dergano neighborhood of Milan, in a courtyard house dating back to the early 1900s, a 70 sqm apartment has undergone a transformation that makes it a significant example of how tradition and contemporary design can coexist harmoniously.
The renovation rediscovered the essence of Italian culture, reinterpreted in a modern way. The project involved merging two small, inadequately renovated, one-bedroom apartments from the early 1980s, which consisted of four dimly lit and poorly utilized rooms. The intervention radically changed the layout of the spaces and internal flow, improving the usability of the areas and enhancing the interaction between the rooms.
The internal walls were demolished and repositioned, except for the central load-bearing column. The kitchen and living room were connected through a new opening, facilitating air circulation and the passage of natural light between the spaces.
The kitchen serves as the heart of the home, designed as a welcoming and multifunctional area that opens directly onto the dining and living zones. This solution not only optimizes the use of the living space but also promotes a natural conviviality typical of Italian homes.
